The Elaine Milbourne Theatre Dance School offers a vast range of subjects for the performing arts. We have a fantastic team of specialist teachers who create an atmosphere were our pupils can develop in a fun and caring environment.
The school was established in 1980 by Elaine Milbourne.
Our school is beautifully equipped, having 2 purpose made studios with sprung wooden floors/barres and mirrors we also have a dancewear shop and a refreshment area.

Since the schools inception we have always been actively involved in the community appearing at events, fetes and in shows. We participate in an annual Dance Competition and have performed in theatres across the area as well as Disneyland Paris and Her Majesty's Theatre London.

Ten children successfully auditioned to dance in the Nutcracker with Northern Ballet at the Theatre Royal Newcastle in November 2011
Bethany Whittle won Miss Dance of Great Britain (I.D.T.A.) 2011 and has just secured her 1st contract working with Louis Spence in the Panto "Cinderella" at Manchester

Throughout the year we enter hundreds of candidates with the I.D.T.A. (International Dance Theatres Association) for exams at all levels and we have an enviable reputation and excellent success rate. Pupils are nominated regularly for the I.D.T.A. Theatre Awards.

What makes the school different is that it offers such a vast range of subjects for students of all abilities and ages, there is something for everyone whether they want to perform or just come along and enjoy a class. Students at EMTDS can train to teaching level and are able to go on to full time performer's college.
